Where to Find Remote Work

Whether you do remote freelance work from time to time or full time – or want to – you could find the  Want a Work-From-Home Gig article from Techwhirl of interest as it covers several web sites that let you bid on work-at-home projects or positions. The Techwhirl article mentions these sites:

  • FlexJobs
  • Freelancer
  • Guru
  • The Penny Hoarder
  • The Work at Home Wife
  • Virtual Vocations
  • Work from Home Happiness
  • UpWork (formerly Elance)

The Techwhirl article shares the experience of Danny Margulies – as explained at the How to Make Money on Elance site. Danny describes how on Elance alone he had a good experience, making six figures annually, while some point out that fewer than 1 percent of journalists find success as freelancers.

A site the Techwhirl article does not mention is Idealist.org, where you can bid on both contract work and permanent positions that let you you work remotely if you set your search for those jobs.

Many note the competition for remote work is both fierce and global with reports of over 500 people applying for some of the work and positions.
