Vensel Receives 2020 Distinguished Chapter Service Award

Northeast Ohio STC Past President Jason Vensel was awarded the Distinguished Chapter Service Award by the STC in 2020.

Jason Vensel started out as NEO STC Public Relations Committee manager in 2015 and held that position for four years. Vensel was instrumental in the success of our chapter workshop with Bernard Aschwanden. He wrote numerous articles to inform the membership about the Saturday program and notified relevant professional publications. His Constant Contact emails were also sent to chapters throughout the Midwest to encourage their attendance in person or via GoToMeeting. Without Jason’s dogged determination, our workshop with Aschwanden would not have been a success.

Vensel’s friendly stewardship and remarkable perseverance were the catalyst for four years of excellent programs and mentorship. His PR committee was awarded Committee of the Year for 2018-2019. While managing the committee and its responsibilities, Vensel was elected NEO STC chapter vice president in 2016. He moved up to president in 2017 and continued on as immediate past president in 2018.

Vensel received a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Ohio University and a J.D. from The University of Toledo College of Law. He enjoys a satisfying career with DRB Systems, LLC in Akron, Ohio.

His citation reads “For your willingness to initiate and support innovative and successful Northeast Ohio chapter activities through strong public relations campaigns and steadfast leadership.”

The Distinguished Chapter Service Award (DCSA) is designed to recognize exemplary effort, energy, and dedication to a chapter and its activities. The program was inaugurated in 1988, with the first awards given in 1989. The DCSA is the highest level of recognition that a member can receive for service to a geographic community and is a ‘lifetime achievement award’ for chapter service.
