Welcome to another year in one of the country’s most recognized Chapters of The Society for Technical Communication.
Last year’s President Tricia Spayer led our Chapter to Platinum recognition which is a phenomenal accomplishment. She encouraged the chapter members to get actively involved and we did. My goal is to keep this momentum going through increasing membership by becoming more visible across the state, educational outreach by reaching out to more universities and high schools and encouraging present members to take advantage of the many opportunities of Ohio STC.
Over the past 6 months, industry and academia have seen the tremendous value of excellent technical communication skills, as we rally through this unprecedented pandemic. Your skills and expertise are needed now more than ever as we navigate through the unfamiliar and tumultuous seas of COVID 19.
Fortunately, STC is here to support you with opportunities for professional development, networking, support, and friendships. I encourage you to get more involved and not only embrace the opportunities to serve the organization and its members who rely on it…but to lead by example by helping others. Studies have proven that volunteering will not only help you professionally by adding to your resume and professional network, but will help brighten your days and the days of others. Just 2 or 3 hours a week is recommended by researchers! If you don’t have 2 or 3 hours a week…that’s ok! Any amount of time that you could share will be greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com with any questions regarding membership or how you can get more actively involved with our Chapter. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Stay healthy and safe!
President, Ohio STC
