NEO STC President Rewards Volunteerism

Every year our community president recognizes members who strive to keep our STC community afloat. Awards are for the STC year, July 1 through June 30. Community President Bob Young presented the 2019 awards at the Member Appreciation Picnic in mid-May in Solon.

President’s Achievement Award – Lisa Mileusnich

The Northeast Ohio community president awards this recognition to individuals for consistent contributions to keep the community running smoothly over the years.

Lisa has co-managed our Academic Relations committee for…years! She visits college campuses and speaks to students about careers in technical communication. Lisa also manages the STC Scholarship Committee, a Society-level program. She is the EventBrite manager for our Publicity committee.

NEO Volunteers of the Year – Julianne Forsythe and Tricia Spayer

The Northeast Ohio community president awards this recognition to an individual (or individuals) for their outstanding efforts to help the community accomplish high goals.

Julianne is NEO STC webmaster. Before taking on that role, she worked tirelessly on our Public Relations committee. In her new role, Julianne still keeps one foot on the publicity side.

Tricia signed up for another 3-year commitment (vice president, president, and immediate past president) when Bob Young approached her to be his VP. After years as our treasurer, she passed the torch to Kathy Gaughan.

NEO Committee of the Year – Public Relations, Jason Vensel

The Northeast Ohio community president awards this recognition to a committee for their outstanding efforts to help the community accomplish high goals.

Most of you know Jason as the 2017-2018 president of our community, but did you know that he worked on, then managed our Public Relations committee for five years? Oh, yes, he did!

NEO Rookie Volunteer of the Year – Kathleen Gaughan

The Northeast Ohio community president awards this recognition to a first-year community volunteer for their outstanding efforts to help the community accomplish high goals. This award was first introduced in 2013.

Kathy joined the Board as treasurer when Tricia Spayer accepted the role of vice president. Kathy had big shoes to fill and she has done a stellar job!

NEO Volunteer Recognition – Angie Dianetti, Kelly Graham, Lisa Scovern

The Northeast Ohio community president awards this recognition to volunteer(s) for their volunteer efforts and active participation during the year.

Angie has been organizing and hosting the networking lunches since our community began offering them. She also plans evening and weekend socials, like vineyard visits and bowling and bocce. Her company, Radcom, is hosting a game night on March 12th at 6:00 p.m.

Lisa is our community secretary. She schedules Board meetings, creates agendas, and takes and publishes meeting minutes. Lisa also tracks the points that members earn toward NEO Volunteer of the Year, the award that acknowledges the most involved member of the community.

Kelly has been the Honors committee manager for four years. She applies for Society-level community awards such as Community Achievement and Pacesetter. She nominates members for Society-level awards such as Distinguished Community Service and the Jay R. Gould Award for Excellence in Teaching Technical Communication. Kelly assists in the preparation of applications for Society honors such as Associate Fellow and Fellow.
