In the Spotlight: Kevin Halaburda

Kevin with his wife Amy

Kevin is a past treasurer and senior member of the NEO STC community. He is a Senior Technical Writer at Keithley Instruments where he has written documentation for five and a half years. He joined Keithley full time in 2014.

Prior to Keithley, Kevin was a senior project writer at RADCOM, a technical communications, training, and design firm where he designed and developed technical user manuals, quick reference documents, process flows, instructional guides, and computer-based training.

Kevin also worked for several years as a consultant for the Department of Defense (DFAS).

He is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University (college when he was there) where he graduated with a degree in English. While not active in the alumni community he does sometimes look at their Facebook to see if anyone important died. (We swear he told us to put that in; we think it’s a test to see who reads these.)

When he is not writing for Keithley Instruments, he has a variety of interests:

He has been a licensed amateur radio operator for more than 25 years, currently holding an Advanced class license. His call sign is KB8NBY, FCC Universal Licensing System

Kevin is an avid fisherman. He travels often to both Pennsylvania and to Utah (as well as other western states) in pursuit of trout. He has also been an active volunteer with Trout Unlimited. Trout Unlimited is dedicated to the conservation of freshwater streams and rivers.

He is an accomplished guitar player, a collector, and a die-hard Tom Petty fan. Among his collection of guitars are:

  • A 2015 Rickenbacker 330
  • A 1994 Fender Stratocaster

Kevin and his wife Amy have an adorable half-Maltese, half-Yorkie named Dixie. He also owns a classic Honda motorcycle, completely analog.
