In the Spotlight: Amber Shulman

Amber is a new member of NEO STC, having joined early this year. “I’ve attended several programs and the member picnic in May, and have enjoyed getting to know some of you already,” she says.

This year, Amber is serving on the Board of Directors in the role of Communications.

“I’ve been on the chapter’s email list for years, and I’m glad I decided to become more involved,” she adds. “Bob Young ushered me in at my first event, and since then I’ve received a warm welcome from many of you.”

Amber’s technical communication background includes working at Lincoln Electric  and, while at an advertising agency, servicing accounts such as Ferro Corporation, Nook Industries, and Ranpak Corporation.

In 2012, after many years working in the marketing communications and public relations field, she decided to start her communications firm, Candid Virgo Communications. Here she continues to serve clients in the manufacturing sector.

“I like the challenge of taking technical concepts, whether related to product engineering or describing a product’s end-use or application, and transforming those concepts into relatable terms for specific audiences.”

Through her firm, Amber says she is able to provide clients a personalized, cost-effective service backed by 25 years of experience. “If your company needs additional support in the areas of writing or graphic design, I am able to help with those types of projects,” she adds.

When she’s not working, Amber volunteers with a local organization called InMotion, where she assists clients diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease during exercise programs. She also enjoys reading, hiking, biking, and running, and travel adventures with her husband Jon, periodically accompanied by their mini-goldendoodle, Jonah.
