“They Want Video! Where Do I Start?”

Cameras! Scripts! “Talent”! It sounds sort of familiar, but the world of instructional video can quickly get bewildering if you’re new to the process. This presentation walks you through the design and development of creating a video used for workplace training. You’ll be introduced to key equipment used on a typical “shoot,” the roles and responsibilities of a video crew, some best practices for writing video scripts, and the post-production processes that generate the published piece. The strengths and limitations of video as a communication medium will also be discussed, as well as some tips on collaborating with video vendors.

Speaker Biography

Kim Lindsey is the eLearning & Instructional Design Manager at Cinécraft Productions Inc. in the Ohio City area of Cleveland, where she designs learning experiences on a wide range of topics for the company’s clients. In 2015 she received the chapter’s Distinguished Chapter Service Award, and in 2016 she was honored to become an Associate Fellow of the Society. Kim believes that her philosophy toward technical communication and instructional design is best embodied by her tagline, “Always remember what it’s like not to know.”

Parking at Cinécraft: Meeting attendees should park in the large Cleveland Clinic parking lot that is directly across Franklin Blvd. from the Cinécraft building. The gated hospital lot next to the Cinécraft building is reserved for medical personnel only and should not be used.
