About Us

The STC (Society for Technical Communication) is the world’s largest and oldest professional association dedicated to the advancement of the field of technical communication. We are writers, editors, graphic artists, web content managers, usability experts, consultants, information managers, instructional designers, educators, and students. We work in many industries, including telecommunications, software, semiconductor, financial, engineering, medical, and transportation. The Society has members in almost 50 countries and is continuing to grow rapidly outside of North America and Europe.

We are one of the most active STC communities in the U.S. Our community provides leadership and direction for our members and promotes professional growth through program meetings, workshops/conferences, webinars, volunteer opportunities, mentoring, and networking events.

On February 17, 2020, we celebrated a momentous occasion when members voted to change the name of the chapter from “Northeast Ohio Society for Technical Communication” to “Ohio Society for Technical Communication.” We are proud of our history as NEO STC and are excited to expand our reach as Ohio STC in the future.

Community Achievement Award

Our chapter has consistently earned the annual Community Achievement Award from the Society for its outstanding service to members. Our most recent accomplishment is the STC Silver Community Award. This honor is awarded by the STC for finding creative ways to engage with members virtually, expanding your members understanding of inclusive terminology, and clearly explaining volunteer opportunities within the chapter.  Read more here.

See the Society Awards page for details on this and other awards we’ve received.

Educational and Networking Opportunities

Monthly program meetings give you a chance to hear discussions about timely topics from the thought leaders and practitioners who represent the future of the profession, and to share in dinner with fellow professionals.

Professionals interested in technical communications are welcome to attend networking lunches and social events. Networking gives you educational benefits, improves your credentials and professional experience, boosts your confidence, and gives you access to new business contacts.
